Analyzes of the river basin as a planning unit must be considered from a systemic approach, as there are a set of elements and relationships between it, the territory and its direct relationships with use and occupation. In this way, there is no area of land that is not part of a river basin, making it possible to evaluate in an integrated way human actions on the environment and their consequences in the balance or imbalance of systems. The present work aims at the integrated analysis of the São João da Barra river basin, Mato Grosso, Alto Tapajós and as a product to propose an Environmental Integrity Protocol to be used by managers and the community in a quick and simple way in the assessment and diagnosis of watersheds. Data collection was carried out in the field, in the upper, middle and lower portions of the São João da Barra River, in a total of 5 data collection sections in each portion of the river basin and 4 additional sections. In these stretches, the physical and chemical parameters of the water were measured, in addition to soil collection for complete analysis of granulometry and chemical compounds, in addition to the application of Environmental Integrity protocols, focused on the Rapid Assessment of habitat diversity. Land use and cover maps were prepared in different time periods (2008 and 2023). The results of measurements of the physical and chemical parameters of the water in the field indicate that the levels of dissolved oxygen are outside the standards of CONAMA Resolution No. 357, OF MARCH 17, 2005, in 63.15% of the sections evaluated, confirming the data obtained by the Environmental Integrity Assessment shows that 57.9% of the stretches evaluated are impacted, especially in the upper and middle portions, 21.05% in an altered state and the same percentage in a natural state of conservation in the river basin. Despite the occupation and use of land in the São João da Barra river basin, with a reduction in the area of native vegetation by 5% from 2008 to 2023, current human activities are causing impacts on the waters. We conclude that activities such as agriculture, mining and misuse of banks are contributing to the reduction of the integrity of the São João da Barra River Basin.
