RESUMO:

The importance of studying the way in which management, specifically in the municipality of Tangará da Serra, exercises its governance, how it has been acting, planning, managing water and social participation/interaction in this management process meets the general concern that is regarding the issue of the water crisis. Through the guarantee of water security intended and defended as a constitutional right, the study of water governance practiced in the basin, its effects on urban water supply and the role of the population of Tangara in this process is studied. Good management is carried out when society's demands are met, when charging and concessions for the use of water are enforced, and compliance with participatory management reaches the entire city in an effective and efficient way through access to treated water. and sewage services, which meets the Sustainable Development Goals, SDG 6. In the case of water in the state of Mato Grosso, there is no such charge, only payment for its distribution. Management only becomes effective and efficient when it is exercised in a participatory manner, listening to society's desires and allowing its involvement in the resource management process. Qualitative research developed through a literature review shows that there are many challenges to achieving effective and efficient water management. However, this management becomes easier if there is the involvement, integration and interaction of society in the management process, because by listening to the desires, using appropriate study techniques and transforming consumers into transforming agents, managers, it is possible to achieve effectiveness in serving, use and recharge the water resource without overloading the water system. The present dissertation work aims, through the observation of governance applied in the management of water resources present in the municipality of Tangará da Serra, to present that participatory management exists, but is exercised in a deficient way. Highlighting the importance of society's role in this management process is extremely important, which is why it is important to provide society with clear, objective and easily accessible information on how they can and should collaborate in this management process.
