A METHODOLOGY FOR MAPPING FLOOD-PRONE AREAS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF SINOP-MT.
Flooding, Map, AHP
This study aims to understand flood events in a specific urban area located in the municipality of Sinop-MT and its region, taking into consideration the overload of the drainage system, which occurs at both national and global levels, as well as the importance of basic sanitation for quality of life. The main objective is to identify areas prone to flooding by creating a susceptibility map using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method and geoprocessing information combined with data on pedology, geomorphology, and land use. This approach involves multicriteria analysis techniques that consider natural and socioeconomic factors, enabling dynamic modeling of the local reality. The application of this methodology enhances awareness of areas most susceptible to flooding through an easily understandable map, potentially influencing future studies and benefiting both the public authorities and society as a whole, which are affected by such events.
