RESUMO:

This dissertation examines water as a structuring axis of the curriculum from a transdisciplinary perspective in elementary education. The study is based on the understanding that water goes beyond the strictly natural dimension, as it involves social, historical, cultural, economic, political, and environmental aspects that permeate both school education and students’ daily lives. The research problem seeks to understand how water can be considered an integrating axis of the school curriculum, taking into account the limits of disciplinary fragmentation and the possibilities offered by transdisciplinarity. The general objective is to analyze the potential of water as a structuring axis of the school curriculum, with a view to developing a pedagogical booklet for elementary school teachers. The research adopts a qualitative, bibliographic, and documentary approach, drawing on authors from the fields of curriculum studies, critical environmental education, transdisciplinarity, and complex thinking, as well as official documents such as the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), the National Environmental Education Policy (PNEA), and the National Curricular Guidelines for Environmental Education. As a technical-technological product, a pedagogical booklet was developed to support teachers’ planning, with guidelines and activities that connect water to curricular content and to students’ territorial experiences. Thus, the research seeks to contribute to integrated, contextualized, and socially relevant pedagogical practices in elementary education.
