RESUMO:

The Water Footprint is an indicator that measures the total volume of water used, directly and indirectly, in the production of goods, services, and daily activities, allowing us to understand the impacts of human consumption on water resources. This research addresses the relationship between water footprint, environmental education, and climate change in the school context, highlighting the importance of raising awareness about the sustainable use of water in the face of contemporary environmental challenges. Climate change has caused significant impacts on the availability and quality of water resources, intensifying problems related to supply, environmental degradation, and excessive water consumption. In this scenario, environmental education plays a fundamental role in the formation of critical, conscious individuals committed to sustainable practices. The study aims to analyze the contributions of the Online Water Diary and the didactic sequence on Water Footprint to environmental awareness and understanding of climate change among 6th-grade elementary school students. This research employs a qualitative, participatory, and descriptive approach, conducted at the Dr. Hélio Palma de Arruda Civic-Military State School, located in the municipality of Cuiabá, Mato Grosso. The pedagogical strategy employed is the Online Water Diary, a digital tool designed to record students' consumption habits, environmental perceptions, daily practices, and reflections related to water use. Data collection occurs through observations, student-produced records, questionnaires, and activities developed during the didactic sequence. The expected results will contribute to broadening students' understanding of the relationship between consumption, sustainability, and water resources, as well as encouraging more conscious practices in the school and family environment. It is also expected to strengthen student leadership, critical thinking, and active student participation in environmental discussions. It is concluded that the integration between environmental education, Water Footprint, and educational technologies presents significant potential to promote contextualized learning and encourage attitudes geared towards the preservation of water resources and sustainability.
