RESUMO:

This study investigates how sleep quality and extracurricular study time impact the academic performance of a group of high school students. In order to conduct this research, fuzzy modeling techniques were chosen to analyze data sets related to academic performance. Understanding the factors that influence academic success is fundamental to improving educational outcomes. In this context, the quality of sleep and the time dedicated to extracurricular studies emerge as important variables. Other variables could be considered to provide a more comprehensive understanding, such as extracurricular activities, home study environment, mental health and well-being, relationships with teachers and classmates, motivation and interest in learning, etc. However, collecting data on new variables of interest can be labor-intensive and require significant resources. This would lead to greater study complexity, it would impact the time allocated to this research, and furthermore, the increase in variables can make the interpretation of results more complex and subject to confusion. By applying fuzzy modeling techniques, combined with the use of the Likert scale, it was possible to identify a strong correlation among the study variables, providing valuable insights for educators, healthcare professionals and researchers interested in promoting better academic results and students well-being.
