Fiction and reality, Violated rights, Exploration, Solitária, Eliana Alves Cruz
This research focuses on the analysis of the novel "Solitária" (2022), by Eliana Alves Cruz, in light of the social issues surrounding the working conditions of domestic workers and their daughters in Brazil. The study addresses Black Brazilian female literature as a significant way of denouncing the rights violations and marginalization faced by these women and their families throughout history. We assume that the novel exposes violations of the fundamental rights of children and adolescents, especially the right not to be exploited and to have their social place respected. The narrative seeks, through literature, to promote the social emancipation of the community presented, highlighting the resilience and importance of the victims' voices in the fight for their rights. The overall objective is to broaden critical discussions about the relationship between literature and society, addressing rights violations, with an emphasis on the conditions of domestic workers and their children, and on power dynamics, highlighting their role in raising awareness about modern slavery and child exploitation. This is a qualitative study, supported by a bibliographic review and literary analysis of the work Solitária, by Eliana Alves Cruz. The methodological approach comprises two main stages: bibliographic analysis and literary analysis. Along the way, the research explores Black Brazilian female literature in the contemporary context, connecting it with Afro-Brazilian and Black Brazilian literature and the representativeness of Eliana Alves Cruz's writing. The analysis seeks to compare the reality and fiction of domestic workers in Brazil and their daughters, as well as the rights violations outlined in the novel. In terms of theoretical support, some works are fundamental like Racismo estrutural (2019), by Silvio Almeida; O pacto de branquitude (2022), by Cida Bento; Direitos da Criança e do Adolescente: Estudos além do ECA (2023), by Ricardo de Moraes Cabezón; Literatura negro-brasileira (2010), by Luiz Silva Cuti; Mulher, raça e classe (2016), by Angela Davis; Por um feminismo-afro-latino-americano (2020), by Lélia Gonzalez, as well as other works that will be consulted throughout the research. Solitária, by Eliana Alves Cruz, illustrates how violence and exploitation impact the lives of children and adolescents, affecting their identity, memory, and social development. Through her narrative, the author not only denounces these violations but also opens up a discussion about resistance and the need to hear and value the voices of victims in the pursuit of justice and social equality.
