FROM MEMORY TO MEMORY THE MIGRANT WALKS ON THE NORTHERN PATHWAYS: MEMORY AND IDENTITY IN CORAÇÃO MADEIRA, BY MARLI WALKER
Memory. Identity. Autofiction. Marli Walker. Coração Madeira.
The present research aims to analyze the work Coração Madeira (2020), by Marli Walker, and our purpose is to analyze how remembrance helps the author to build her aesthetic project, in particular, how the plot, memory and identity of the protagonist-narrator are articulated in the text, valuing the feminine being in a markedly masculine and authoritarian context with women. The novel is configured by continuous resumptions of themes, in which the narrator elucidates or develops, in each chapter, some subject from the previous chapter, breaking the linearity of the text, which always seems to “go back”. At the same time, they form links between memories throughout her life, building a strong feminine identity, based on family references that are also feminine, despite the fragmentation of the narrative. It is hoped that, with the research, it will become clear that the narrative is strengthened and the writer's project comes to fruition with the effective use of the memorial process.
