RESUMO:

The central objective of this dissertation is to analyze the work Ikuiapá: na boca do Pari (2020), by Anna Maria Ribeiro Costa and Rosemar Eurico Coenga, as well as the development of a reading mediation proposal aimed at teaching youth literature. In this sense, the research investigates how the cultural and identity representations present in the work contribute to the formation of critical readers, in addition to postulating reading mediation strategies that promote fluid reading in the educational context. Methodologically, this study uses a critical approach to explore the literary materiality of the work, emphasizing the importance of myths and identity in the construction of the reading subject. Furthermore, a reading mediation is proposed that integrates literary literacy methodologies, reception method and active methodologies, with the aim of promoting the practice of literary reading in teaching. Finally, it is expected that the results of this investigation will contribute to the construction of a possibility of reading mediation that values cultural identity and, at the same time, enhances the development of critical thinking among students.
