THE AESTHETIC CONSTRUCTION OF MEMORY IN O SALÁRIO DOS POETAS, BY RICARDO GUILHERME DICKE: TIME, WRITING AND FORGETTING
Dicke. Writing. Aesthetics. Forgetting. Memory. Time.
This research proposes a critical reflection on the aesthetic construction of the novel O Salário dos Poetas (2000), by Ricardo Guilherme Dicke, as well as on the role of writing in the perpetuation of memory and the implications of time in the process of forgetting. This investigation is based on bibliographical research and employs a qualitative method. In Dicke's aesthetic creation, factors such as singularity and unrepeatability become predominant and specific. Dicke also stands out for his dense language and his ability to evoke emotions. These characteristics are present throughout all his novels and short stories, particularly in O Salário dos Poetas, the novel whose the construction of beauty, weaving of voices and dialogism will be examined in this study. The investigation will also study metafiction and literary pretense; memory and cultural identity, the duty of memory and manipulated memory. To support our reflections on aesthetics in Dicke's literary work, we rely on Hamburger (1986), Pareyson (1997), Lessing (1998), Todorov (2011), Eco (2004/2007), Marcuse (2016) and Santiago (2002). In examining the importance of writing in the preservation of memory, we will engage with theorists such as Iser (1999/2002), Derrida (2005), Fischer (2009), Gass (1974) and Barthes (2007). To understand the construction and distortions of memory, its preservation and the implications of time in the process of forgetting, we will consider the works of authors who have devoted their studies to this subject including: Le Goff (2013), Yates (2007), Ricoeur (2007), Pollak (1989/1992), Benjamin (1989), Candau (2023), Halbwachs (2003) and others.
