RESUMO:

The priority of this work is to apply methods that promote the active learning of biology, bringing meaning to concepts, valuing the scientific method and teaching through an investigative approach. This project proposes teaching biology in which third-year high school students from the 29 de Julho State School, in the municipality of Confresa, MT, take on an active and investigative role, researching: the relationships between biotic and abiotic components in the hydrogeomorphological constitution of the Cacau stream micro-watershed. This problem presupposes bio-teaching from an investigative, analytical approach using maps and images, researching and experiencing processes in search of understanding the dynamics of this environment as an object of teaching, evaluating traditional classes in relation to classes with an investigative approach, the understanding of concepts and finally the construction of a thematic mental map, called the Ambi-Mental Map, as a pedagogical product. Motivating students' active participation in the learning process and a sense of belonging to the local reality, developing skills and abilities foreseen in the BNCC/DRC-MT (Brazilian National Curriculum Base/Regional Education Directorate of Mato Grosso). In addition to fostering student leadership, proactivity, and engagement in scientific research, uncovering the interactions between biotic factors (such as vegetation physiognomy and riparian forests) and abiotic factors (such as climate, hydrological cycle, and relief) as component elements of the ecosystem, creating a mental map as a pedagogical product using these concepts. This map, analogous to a structured hydrographic map with a layout and description of all biotic and abiotic concepts/elements and their interactions, will be used as a pedagogical product At the conclusion of the inquiry-based teaching sequence and the seminar presentations, the students presented general concepts of biotic and abiotic components and their interactions, as well as their relationship with environmental legislation. They demonstrated significant development in understanding the proposed object of study, showing proactivity and protagonism by establishing links between concepts and legal parameters. These were applied to the creation of an 'Environmental Map' as a way to systematize concepts and information applied to local reality in the construction of knowledge.
