Mato Grosso stands out as one of the main agricultural producers in the country, with a territorial area that raises great expectations for development in the state and, consequently, in the municipalities. Given the projections for the state, this research aimed to investigate the influence of this sector on the development of municipalities, analyzing relationships with social indicators, based on data provided by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), by CAR (Rural Environmental Registry), and by CONAB (National Supply Company). The applied methodology involved statistical analysis in 2 clusters divided using the clustering method. Preliminary results indicate a tendency towards a relationship between the agricultural sector and the development of municipalities

RESUMO:
Mato Grosso se destaca como um dos principais produtores agrícolas do país, com área territorial que desperta grandes expectativas de desenvolvimento do estado e por consequência dos municípios. Diante das projeções para o estado a presente pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar a influência desse setor no desenvolvimento dos municípios, analisando as relações com os indicadores sociais, fundamentando-se em dados fornecidos pelo IBGE (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística), pelo CAR (Cadastro Ambiental Rural) e pela CONAB (Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento). A metodologia aplicada foram análises estatísticas em 2 clusters divididos através do método de clusterização. Os resultados prévios indicam uma tendência de relação entre o setor agrícola e o desenvolvimento dos municípios.
