The growing challenge of increasing global agricultural production, projected by 70% by 2050, requires sustainable water resource management practices, especially in the Brazilian cerrado, a vital area for grain production. In this context, the legume mung bean (Vigna radiata), known for its short cycle and high nutritional value, appears as a promising alternative for the off-season in Mato Grosso. This study aims to determine the cultivation coefficient (Kc) in different phenological phases of mung beans, in the edaphoclimatic conditions of the Cerrado of Mato Grosso. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse at the University of the State of Mato Grosso, in Nova Mutum, between November 2023 and January 2024, using lysimeters composed of 18-liter vessels spaced 0,40 m between rows and 0,05 m between plants, totaling 10 repetitions. Irrigation management was carried out daily, considering the level of water applied and the volume drained. The variables were analyzed: irrigation depth (LI), reference evapotranspiration (ETo), crop evapotranspiration (ETc), crop coefficient (Kc) and water use efficiency (WUE). During 52 days of cultivation, mung beans used 501,2 mm of water per ETc. The Kc values found were 0,73 in the vegetative phase, 1,24 in flowering, 1,86 in grain filling and 1,32 in maturation. The average water use efficiency was 0,77 kg m³. These results are valuable for agricultural planning and irrigation management of mung beans in the Cerrado of Mato Grosso.
