RESUMO:

The use of chemical inputs for pest control is very common, as they are efficient products with faster results. However, its indiscriminate use causes damage to the environment and human health, in addition to enabling the development of resistance by insect pests. Under field conditions, what can often maintain the balance of these insects is the presence of natural enemies, such as the egg parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum Riley. However, agroecosystems do not always offer favorable conditions for the insect to establish itself in these areas and act in the biological control of pests. Currently, the biggest limiting factor for the good performance of the parasitoid is the use of non-selective insecticides, even those of biological origin, such as essential oils from plants with insecticidal properties. Seeking to evaluate the compatibility of the use of essential oils and commercial insecticides with the activity of the parasitoid, in agricultural systems, this work investigated the effects of two commercial products and two essential oils in adults and on the development of T. pretiosum through bioassays in laboratory. The commercial products tested were Prêmio® SC and Exalt® SC and the essential oils were Piper fuligineum and Piper hispidum at concentrations of 0.25%, 0.5%, 1%, 2% and 4%. Based on the bioassays performed, only Prased® is selective for T. pretiosum, the other tested products are incompatible with the parasitoid because they are highly toxic to adults, inhibit parasitism and their emergence under the conditions of this study.
