RESUMO:

This research aims to evaluate the eco-socioeconomic impacts of Graduate Programs in Environmental Sciences implemented by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) regarding the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This dissertation is divided into two manuscripts: the first manuscript was entitled Social Impacts of Graduate Programs in the area of Environmental Sciences: an analysis of the state of the art and their contributions to society and had as its general objective to carry out the state of the art on the theoretical evolution of publications about the evaluation of the socioeconomic and environmental impacts of Graduate Programs (PPGs). The methodological procedures were descriptive research of a quantitative/quali nature through a systematic review of the literature of the Scopus and Web of Science databases, aligned with the guidelines established by the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations (UN). For data analysis, the VOSviewer tool and Google Spreadsheet were used, which enabled the visualization of collaboration networks and thematic connections between studies. The results suggest that graduate programs in Environmental Sciences have transformative potential in vulnerable regions and are essential for advancing the 2030 Agenda, with a focus on reducing inequalities (SDG 10). The importance of expanding the measurement of the impacts of graduate programs through robust indicators is reinforced, as well as fostering interdisciplinary and interinstitutional actions in the academic environment. The second manuscript was entitled Assessment of the Eco-Socioeconomic Impacts of Graduate Programs in Environmental Sciences in Brazil and had the general objective of analyzing the contributions of graduate programs in environmental sciences to society, the economy, and the environment. For the methodological procedures, descriptive/exploratory research was used with case studies in 131 (one hundred and thirty-one) Postgraduate Programs in the area of Environmental Sciences, using semi-structured questionnaires applied to the coordinators of the postgraduate programs, with a qualitative/quantitative approach to analyze the impact through indicators different from those of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and thus assess their real impacts. The results of this article are under analysis. It is expected that with these data the analysis of social, ecological and economic impacts caused by postgraduate programs in environmental sciences can be measured through eco-socioeconomic indicators.
