This study aimed to analyze, both qualitatively and quantitatively, the consumption of plastic-containing products and the associated waste generation from the activities of MT-Hemocentro. Warehouse data on product outputs in 2024 were evaluated, totaling 187 items analyzed. The methodology involved individual weighing of each item using a calibrated scale, and the estimation of total plastic volume was calculated based on consumption frequency. The results indicated a total of 18,947.9 kilograms of plastic waste generated during the study year, with a predominance of disposable materials classified as infectious waste (75.53%). Different types of polymers were identified, with polypropylene (PP) being the most prevalent, followed by polyethylene terephthalate (PET), rubber, and high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The diversity of materials within a single product and the absence of polymer identification hindered classification and recycling potential. It is concluded that the high consumption of plastics is directly related to hemotherapy and hematology activities, highlighting the need for sustainable waste management strategies, promotion of materials with greater recycling potential, and strengthening of partnerships with the recycling sector. The plastic input inventory is an initial step toward identifying materials with substitution potential, as well as those that are avoidable and/or unnecessary.
