This study is affiliated with the Area of Concentration in the Study of Linguistic Processes, within the Research Line Studies of Signification Processes, of the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Linguistics at the State University of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT). The research aims to understand the semantic-enunciative functioning of excerpts that constitute the corpus of analysis. The first excerpt is drawn from the work A Coroa do Mundo: religião, território e territorialidade Chiquitano (The Crown of the World: Chiquitano Religion, Territory, and Territoriality), by Moreira da Costa (2006); the second from the website Terras Indígenas no Brasil (Indigenous Lands in Brazil), maintained by the Instituto Socioambiental (ISA); the third from the Diário Oficial da União (Official Gazette of the Union); the fourth from the official website of the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples; the fifth from institutional material published by the Communication Department of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio); and the sixth from a publication disseminated on the educational blog Língua Chiquitano, created by a teacher from an Indigenous school located in the territory known as Portal do Encantado.The analysis focuses on the process of naming Portal do Encantado, an Indigenous land of the Chiquitano people. This territory is currently undergoing physical demarcation and encompasses an approximate area of 43,000 hectares, with an estimated perimeter of 121 kilometers. It is located in the municipalities of Pontes e Lacerda, Porto Esperidião, and Vila Bela da Santíssima Trindade, in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, bordering Bolivia.From this context, the study seeks to understand language as a relation of meanings, conceived through the articulation of linguistic materiality, historicity, and the subject positions inscribed in the enunciative event. To this end, the research is grounded in the theoretical-methodological perspective of the Semantics of the Event, as proposed by Guimarães (2002, 2018), according to which meaning is not given in advance but is constituted within the very event of saying. From this perspective, enunciation is understood as the site of meaning production, and the analyses are conducted through a semantic-enunciative approach that considers naming processes as historically situated discursive practices, shaped by relations of power, memory, and the institutionalization of meanings.
