AMAZON REFLEXES IN THE TOPONYMY IN LIBRAS OF THE MUNICIPALITIES OF RONDÔNIA: ANALYSIS OF ICONICITY

This research investigated the relationship between toponymy in Libras and Amazonian culture, through the analysis of the iconicity present in the toponymic signs of the municipalities of Rondônia, adopting a quali-quanti approach, using documentary research procedures for selection and cataloging of signs in lexicographic-toponymic records. The data were analyzed based on specific objectives, such as the formal description of the selected signs, the identification of the semantic-motivational and iconic characteristics of the toponyms in Libras, as well as the identification of reflections of Amazonian culture in the visual perception of Deaf subjects(namers ). The research presents academic contributions to the description of the Libras lexicon and aims to contribute socially to the appreciation of deaf and Amazonian culture, in addition to serving as a basis for the production of teaching materials for teaching Libras as L1 and L2 based on the results obtained.
