RESUMO:

This research is situated within the line of Studies on Processes of Variation and Change and aims to analyze phenomena of orality in textual production at the elementary school level. The focus is on the transfer of characteristics of orality to writing, seeking to contribute to the development of students’ formal written competence without implying the denial of their linguistic identity. To achieve this objective, the study proposes to: (i) identify the main phenomena of orality present in students’ texts; and (ii) analyze linguistic variation in these productions, considering aspects such as textual genre, theme, and writing context. The study is carried out with a 7th-grade class at Escola Estadual São Luiz, in Cáceres (MT), through the application of a textual activity aimed at the use and valorization of local speech varieties. Students will produce a narrative text, following the methodological stages proposed by Marcuschi (2008), which include genre presentation, initial production, analysis, and discussion. The choice of narrative is grounded in Jerome Bruner’s (2002) approach, which highlights the role of stories in organizing and constructing meaning from human experience. Students will be encouraged to recount significant moments from their lives, making it possible to observe the linguistic features that emerge in their writing. The analysis of the productions will be based on theorists such as Bortoni-Ricardo (2005), Antunes (2007), Faraco (2015), Marcuschi (2008), and Koch (2009), in order to understand the interaction between orality and writing in the school environment. Throughout the research, the teacher assumes an essential role as a mediator between the standard norm and the valorization of students’ linguistic identity. More than guiding adherence to formal writing, the teacher must create an environment of respect for linguistic varieties and support students in the transition between different language registers, promoting balanced and meaningful learning
