SOCIAL IMPACT OF THE BRAZILIAN PARALYMPIC REFERENCE CENTER: INSERTION AND CONTEXTUAL ANALYSIS AT THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF MATO GROSSO
Person with Disability, Assessment, Inclusion, Bioecological Model.
ABSTRACT – Brazil has approximately 18.6 million people with disabilities, according to data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE, 2022). According to data provided by the Continuous National Household Sample Survey - PNAD C 2022, of the 17.5 million people with disabilities of working age, only 5.1 million were employed and received an average monthly income lower than that of people without disabilities. Furthermore, even when comparing people with the same level of education, the rate of informal employment continues to be higher among people with disabilities. From these data, we can observe that exclusion, discrimination, and unequal treatment of PWD still resonate in our society. Therefore, this research aims to evaluate the social impact of the Brazilian Paralympic Reference Center at the State University of Mato Grosso, in Cáceres-MT, based on the bioecological model of human development and ecological insertion. The bioecological model made it possible to understand the phenomenon and analyze its impact based on the four levels of context (micro, meso, exo and macrosystem). The ecological insertion enabled the interaction of the researcher with the project participants (students/athletes), their parents and/or legal guardians, as well as with the teachers and other professionals who are part of the CRPB in Cáceres/MT, establishing proximal processes based on trust in the researcher/observer, allowing the capture of nuances and details that enrich the understanding of the impact of the CRPB in Cáceres/MT. Thus, it is believed that the data from this research will be able to contribute to public managers being able to support more inclusive and effective sports policies for people with disabilities.
