RESUMO:

This study is the result of research conducted within the research line Teacher Training, Policies and Pedagogical Practices, linked to the Postgraduate Program in Education – Master's in Education, offered by the State University of Mato Grosso (Unemat). The research focuses on conflicts and violence in the school environment, specifically bullying. The general objective of the study is to understand students' perceptions of bullying. The research subjects are students from the 7th to 9th grade of three state public schools located in the municipality of Cáceres, corresponding to different modalities (regular education, civic-military school, and full-time school). The guiding question of this research is: What is the students' perception of bullying? The study is exploratory and adopts a quantitative-qualitative approach by combining the analysis of numerical data with the interpretation of discursive responses, providing a broader and deeper understanding of the phenomenon studied. The study reached 30% of the total of 11 state schools that make up the Regional Directorate of Education of Cáceres, which has a population of 1,426 students from the 7th to the 9th grade, with a sample percentage of 20% of these. The data collection instrument is a questionnaire with twenty questions, 22 closed-ended and 7 open-ended. The quantitative data are organized and statistically analyzed, with graphical presentation. Meanwhile, the six open-ended questions of the questionnaire are systematized and analyzed using Laurence Bardin's Content Analysis technique. Among the conclusions, it is highlighted that the school, as a social and formative space, is permeated by contradictions. While it proposes itself as an environment of welcoming, learning, and integral development, it also reflects inequalities, prejudices, and tensions present in society. In this context, bullying emerges as an expression of these social dynamics, affecting the emotional well-being, social interaction, and learning process of students. Understanding it requires recognizing that it is not an individual or merely disciplinary problem, but a collective phenomenon, sustained by the relationships that are built or silenced in daily school life.
