RESUMO:

This research, with a qualitative and ethnographic approach, arises from my experiences as a teacher at the Municipal School Marechal Rondon, located at the 1st Border Special Platoon military post (Corixa), on the Brazil-Bolivia border, in the municipality of Cáceres/MT. The school, at that time an extension of the Sapiquá School Center, linked to Nossa Senhora Aparecida School, is part of the municipal educational system. The study focuses on the border communities of the Municipal Schools Nossa Senhora Aparecida and Cristóbal Colón, aiming to answer questions related to the pedagogical practices adopted in these institutions. The research seeks to investigate whether the pedagogical practices in schools located on the Brazil-Bolivia border adequately meet the needs of bilingual students in intercultural contexts; what are the impacts of educational policies and available resources to promote inclusive literacy, respectful of the diverse cultural and linguistic identities; and how teachers perceive and integrate the cultural and linguistic practices of students into their literacy strategies, as well as the main challenges they face in this process. The methodological approach included bibliographic and documentary review, field research with participant observation and interviews, and the analysis of the collected data involved the triangulation technique. The study was developed from a decolonial perspective, with an emphasis on critical discourse analysis, and sought to reflect on pedagogical practices in the literacy process, aiming for a deeper understanding of education in the border area, challenging established power structures and valuing local knowledge and practices.
