RESUMO:

The master's thesis titled "Food and Nutrition Education: training and organization of social actors in the municipality of Curvelândia-MT" aimed primarily to understand the development of Food and Nutrition Education (FNE) within school settings in Curvelândia-MT, as well as to analyze how pedagogical methodologies and practices regarding participation, training, and organization influence social actors' understanding of healthy eating, in alignment with the guidelines of the National School Feeding Program (PNAE). Secondary objectives included investigating the limitations and possibilities regarding the active participation of social actors in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the FNE program; analyzing social actors' perceptions of pedagogical practices and the formation of the concept of healthy eating; and understanding the challenges faced by social actors in organizing a cooperation network to facilitate the supply of products to schools. The research was justified by the importance of school meals for student development and the need for active community participation to ensure the effectiveness of the PNAE. The study adopted a qualitative approach grounded in Historical-Dialectical Materialism and the philosophy of Praxis—mediated by Freirean concepts—viewing education as a social practice that unfolds amidst the contradictions of the capitalist mode of production while fostering critical curiosity, autonomy, and solidarity. Participatory action research was employed as the methodological strategy to promote interaction among the involved subjects and to seek collective solutions to the identified challenges. A literature and document review provided the theoretical basis for the analysis, while data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews, training sessions, and discussion circles with social actors in Curvelândia-MT. Key findings highlighted the importance of coordinating educational actions that promote sustainability, the autonomy of social actors, and the valuing of local culture. However, it also highlighted challenges that must be overcome to ensure the full effectiveness of Food and Nutrition Education (FNE) practices—such as the need for greater integration among pedagogical activities, social actors, and educational settings within the school. The research pointed to the need to strengthen the training of educators, school administrators, and education staff, as well as to expand community participation in educational activities. The analysis underscores the importance of public policies, such as the PNAE, in fostering the inclusion of sustainable and emancipatory practices, thereby contributing to social transformation and the building of a more just and solidary society.
