Digital Media in Multigrade Classrooms: Potentialities and Challenges in a Rural School in Porto Esperidião, Mato Grosso"
"Pedagogical Practice. Learning, Media, and Development."
The main focus of this study is to understand the influences of digital media on the pedagogical process of students in the final years of lower secondary education (Ensino Fundamental II) in multigrade classrooms at a rural school located in Vila Bocaiuval, in the municipality of Porto Esperidião, Mato Grosso, Brazil. This is an empirical research study, designed as a case study, grounded in a socio-interactionist perspective, with a qualitative approach and a phenomenological focus, aiming to capture the essence of the phenomenon under investigation. To this end, the dissertation is structured into four main parts: a literature review; an integrative review; the theoretical-methodological framework, which involves understanding the lived experiences of the participants, described through observations guided by protocols, field notes, and semi-structured interviews with teachers and students; and finally, a phenomenological and hermeneutic analysis, based on the approach proposed by Bicudo (2000; 2011). This analysis seeks to interpret and unveil meanings through a careful and sensitive reading of participants' narratives, considering the entire existential context in which they are situated. The outcomes of this research will not only make a significant contribution to the advancement of further scientific studies but will also foster deep reflection on the integration of media into teachers’ pedagogical practices, evaluating its effects on the learning and development processes of adolescents in lower secondary education. Furthermore, it critically examines whether this integration truly values the traditions of the local community, promoting equitable access to this knowledge.
