Urban springs are fundamental elements for environmental balance in cities, as they perform ecological, climatic, and social functions that directly affect the population's quality of life. Therefore, understanding how these environments are perceived by local communities is essential for strengthening conservation strategies and participatory environmental management. This study aimed to understand community perceptions of the urban springs located in Parque dos Pioneiros Ludovico da Riva Neto, in Alta Floresta, Mato Grosso, Brazil. The study investigated whether proximity to these environments could influence how residents perceive their environmental benefits and relate to the space. It also sought to identify opinions regarding potential environmental impacts, examine the relationship between residential distance and participants' perceptions, and characterize local environmental perceptions. A qualitative approach was adopted, based on semi-structured interviews conducted with 12 residents living at different distances from the park. Participants were initially selected through convenience sampling, considering residents located within previously defined distance ranges from Parque dos Pioneiros. Subsequently, the snowball sampling technique was employed, whereby participants indicated new individuals who met the research criteria, allowing the sample to expand until data saturation was achieved. Data were subjected to content analysis, and thematic categories were inductively constructed. The results showed that residents' perceptions were associated with everyday experiences and the use of the space, highlighting benefits such as thermal comfort, vegetation presence, a sense of well-being, and environmental appreciation. Residential distance was not found to be a determining factor in the variation of perceptions, indicating that attachment to the space was shaped more by lived experiences than by geographical proximity. In addition, different understandings regarding environmental impacts and the role of public authorities were identified. Limitations related to the visibility and social appropriation of the Adote uma Nascente ("Adopt a Spring") Program were also identified, indicating challenges for strengthening the relationship between the community and environmental public policies. It was concluded that community perception constitutes a central element for strengthening conservation actions and participatory management of urban springs, being predominantly shaped by lived experiences and everyday interactions with these spaces rather than by geographical proximity.
