RESUMO:

Solidago canadensis, popularly known as Tango or Goldenrod, is a herbaceous ornamental plant native to North America that produces attractive yellow inflorescences for ornamentation. Its adaptive and invasive potential has led to its dispersal to various countries due to economic interests. Propagation occurs through sexual reproduction via seeds, or asexually through cuttings, the latter being more attractive for those seeking a rapid development cycle. Goldenrod plants are mainly used for ornamental purposes as cut flowers, for garden design and arrangements; however, research is exploring their medicinal potential, their use in biofuel production, and their potential in phytoremediation of heavy metals. As with any commercial crop, there are selection standards that must be followed. These are developed by Ibraflor and the Veiling Holambra Cooperative, and stipulate parameters such as size, number of buds, opening point, presence of pests, among other criteria. This necessitates specific research and care to ensure the production of high-quality inflorescences and greater post-harvest longevity, given the desired increase in production and export. Therefore, knowledge of the species' adaptability is essential to guarantee better management conditions and, subsequently, quality products. This work aims to understand the development of the species *S. canadensis* for commercial cultivation in the state of Mato Grosso, and the influence of supplemental lighting on the quality of flower stems, evaluating the plants in terms of stem length, total biomass, floral density, and post-harvest storage conditions, aiming to provide results that can later be replicated by local producers seeking additional income.
