Evaluation of Root Rot in Teak
Tectona grandis, Root Rot
Tectona grandis L.f., commonly known as teak, is a forest species of high economic value due to the quality, strength, and durability of its wood, which is widely used in the furniture and shipbuilding industries. However, the expansion of cultivation areas in Brazil has been accompanied by the occurrence of fungal diseases, among which root rot stands out. This disease, recently identified in Brazilian plantations, causes severe damage to the root system and the tree collar, compromising development and potentially leading to plant death. In this context, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the occurrence of root rot in teak. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse at the “Jane Vanini” University Campus of the State University of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT).
